One event related to the sector that may be of interest is the competition for the best artisan butter croissant in Spain.
It is organised by EPGBand is open to all bakeries in the country with a point of sale.
Once participation has been confirmed, the candidates must deliver twelve baked croissants ready for tasting on Tuesday 8 October at the Escuela de Pastelería Gremi de Barcelona and, after assessing the pieces on the basis of colour, flavour, honeycombing, flakiness, format and finish, a single prize of 1,000 euros will be awarded.
The competition is looking for a croissant made with butter as the only fat, with a straight or half-moon-shaped horn, formed with a minimum of three turns, with a total weight when baked of 45 to 65 grams, and with a flaky appearance and a honeycombed interior.
